October-November 2018

The following activities and classes are offered for the enjoyment of Chickasaw residents and their families. We are offering a wide range of activities for all ages, which we hope will meet the recreational needs of the community.

Fees: Class fees are kept to a minimum. No refunds will be considered after the second meeting.
Registration: You may register for any activity at Charles E. McConnell Civic Center. To register by telephone please call 452-6462/452-6467 Register early to ensure your place.

Scary Night Full Moon Kayak Paddle

Youth Scavenger’s Hunt
Afternoon of adventure at Bill Brooks Park Picnic area. Refreshments will be
served and a supervised Hunt will begin.
Date: October 17, 4pm Ages 5-12

Children’s Halloween Costume Parade
The Halloween parade will be on Saturday October 27th. The parade will assemble at the Chickasaw Elementary School grounds. Participants should be present at 9 am for contest registration. Judging will begin at 9:30 am. The parade will begin at 10 am (walkers only, no motor vehicles). Participant’s ages are 0-12. Pets are welcome to accompany the participants as long as they are well behaved and on a restraint. Participants and their pets are encouraged to wear costumes. The contest
will consist of three age divisions: Infants-3, 4-7 and 8-12. Treats will be given to participants along the parade route by approved sponsors. Call 452-6467 if interested in setting up a booth. The children will parade to Miller’s Park for refreshments, announcement of contest winners and a Family Fun Day presented by the Chickasaw Chamber of Commerce.

Chickasaw First Baptist Light in the Night
Fun night of food and games on Halloween Night. A family affair. 6-8 pm
Wednesday October 31st.

Haunted Duck Tour (Downtown Mobile)
All ages interested in a family event at a group rate call Kathy for details.

Chickasaw Celebrates our Veterans
Let’s celebrate our Veterans at the City Maritime Park. Friday, November 9th at 2pm. Help us show
our appreciation for the men and women who have served our great country.

Karate Classes for all Ages
Discipline, friendship, obligation, respect, pride, honor, loyalty, unity, tradition and self-defense are taught on Tuesday and Thursday. Visit a class for more details. 530 pm-7 pm Civic Center

Front Porch Ministry
Night of fellowship! Children’s programs are Offered so bring the kids. Refreshments,
Bible study and mentoring opportunities. Meets 1st and 3rd Friday of every month.
Chickasaw Housing Authority Community Room 6-8 pm

GED Classes
Getting your Alabama General Education Development credential is an important move
in securing a successful future. Please call Kathy at 452-6467 for details. Class is held at
Chickasaw Community Shelter 799 Iroquois. Monday and Thursday night 4-8pm. Feel free
to drop by and speak to the Instructor.

Chickasaw Youth Basketball
Registration begins in the month of December.  Civic Center will be available to register.

City Kayak/Canoe Rental Brooks Landing

Yoga Classes

Lighting of the Community Christmas Tree
Enjoy the Christmas season while caroling around the Christmas Tree. Bring your cameras for a family tradition. Santa will arrive for pictures at 530 pm Lighting of Tree will be at 630 pm, Friday, November 30th at the intersection of W. Lee St. and Grand Blvd.
