Activities

The following activities and classes are offered for the enjoyment of Chickasaw residents and their families. We are offering a wide range of activities for all ages, which we hope will meet the recreational needs of the community.

Fees: Class fees are kept to a minimum. No refunds will be considered after the second meeting.
Registration: You may register for any activity at Charles E. McConnell Civic Center. To register by telephone please call 452-6462/452-6467 Register early to ensure your place.

Halloween Pumpkin Painting

Join in on the fun by painting your very own Pumpkin. Each participant will get to design their own creation. Call 452-6462 for reservations. Civic Center Wed. Oct. 25 3:30pm-5pm Free ages 5-12 

Children’s Halloween Costume Parade

The Halloween parade will be celebrated on Saturday October 28th. The parade will assemble at the Chickasaw Elementary School grounds.  Participants should be present at 9am for contest registration. Judging will begin at 9:30am.  The parade will begin at 10am (walkers only, no motor vehicles).  Participants may be between the ages of infant to 12 years old.  Pets are welcome to accompany the participants as long as they are well behaved and on a restraint. Participants and their pets are encouraged to wear costumes.  The contest will consist of three age divisions: Infants-3 years, 4-7 years and 8-12 years.  Treats will

be given to participants along the parade route by approved sponsors.  Call 452-6467 if interested in setting up a booth.  The children will parade from the School to Am phi-theater for refreshments and announce costume contest winners.  

Treats at the Church

Treats at the Church welcomes all community families. Festive decorated booths/trunks will be setup from one end of the church to the other.  Come enjoy a fun Halloween time at Chickasaw United Methodist Church.

“A Fall-O-Ween Party for ages 12 and under along with parents.  Church Boy will perform, food, candy bags, costume contest and much more.

Chickasaw Celebrates our Veterans
Make plans to attend a Veterans celebration at our City Maritime Park November 9th at 2pm. Please help us show our appreciation for our men and women who have served our great country. 

Open Gym for Basketball
Monday night’s 6-8pm, ages 10-18 school age only.
Thursday night’s 6-8pm, ages 19-up. 

Karate Classes for All Ages
Self-defense and Karate classes are taught on Tuesday and Thursday.  Visit a class for more details- 5:30-6:30pm, Chickasaw Civic Center.

Zumba/Fitness Class
Fun class designed to strengthen muscles, improve definition, endurance and tone. Lots of fun and laughs. $4.00 per class. 6:30pm-7:30pm Monday and Thursday Night Civic Center

Interested in GED Classes
Getting your Alabama General Education Development credential is an important move in securing a successful future. Please call Kathy at 452-6467 for details. Class is held at Chickasaw Community Shelter 799 Iroquois. Mon. & Thur. Night 4-8pm feel free to drop by and speak to the Instructor.

City Kayak/Canoe Rental Brooks Landing

Open to provide rental of kayaks and canoes for your family outing or maybe a little Bass fishing from Brooks Landing. Call Kathy for details 452-6467.

Yoga Classes

Lighting of our Community Christmas Tree
Bring in the Christmas season while caroling around the Community Christmas Tree…Bring your cameras for a family tradition. Santa will arrive for pictures around 5:30pm. Lighting of Tree will be at 6:30pm, Friday, November 17th at the intersection of W. Lee St. and Grand Blvd.

Mark your calendar for the Annual Chickasaw Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 9th 3pm. Parade committee will be looking for our local Schools, community organizations, churches and businesses to call and participate in our upcoming parade day. 452-6467
